Hell To The YES!!!

Rock Band 2: The Opening Act

Rock Band is ready for a comeback tour. Harmonix announced Rock Band 2 is set to ship for Xbox 360 this September and PS3 later in the year.
In an interview with IGN, Harmonix lead designer Dan Teasdale spilled some carefully worded beans on the sequel. Most importantly Harmonix confirmed all Rock Band downloadable content will also work in Rock Band 2 and Teasdale also teased that new features are planned “that let you play your DLC in different ways.” Teasdale also states that new downloadable content will be released for the Rock Band platform when Rock Band 2 is released, meaning you can download all DLC and play on either version. Also, the dreaded profile switching issue in the original is being examined and corrected for a more streamlined experience.
While Teasdale also confirms new instruments are in development for Rock Band 2 they are only receiving more reliable and cosmetic changes, meaning your old Rock Band sets will still work as well. While Teasdale doesn’t confirm some of the questions posed to him, he does tease at the possibility of and online World Tour and multiple users on vocals instruments.

I Want A Guitar!

The wife and I watched a “chick-flick” this weekend:
P.S. I Love You

The basic plot goes like this:
“A young widow discovers that her late husband has left her 10 messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life.”
Music plays a vital role in the film and when the end credits began to roll, my wife leans over to me and says: “Why don’t you play me songs on a guitar and sing to me?”
First thing is this… I cannot sing!
Second thing is this… I don’t know how to play the guitar!
(but I can learn)
To the point:
I was poking around on the internets this morning and I stumbled on a kick-ass guitar designed by famed Hot-Rod Artist: Vince Ray
Needless to say… IT IS AWESOME AND I WANT IT!!!

That is all!

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

Coming out this week for all video game systems is Guitar Hero: Aerosmith!
Here is a video preview of the game and some of the featured tracks on the set:

In honor of the release, our local Blockbuster Video is holding a Guitar Hero competition on Sunday. The winner gets a free game of their choice (which is cool). The wife and I will probably go watch the contest and, who knows… The wife might even get in on the action (i suck at guitar hero).

DVD ‘O The Week 6/24/2008

The Spiderwick Chronicles

A very good adaptation of the popular series of books by Tony DiTerllizi and Holly Black, The Spiderwick Chronicles is one of the few family films in recent years to seamlessly integrate magical elements with a potent drama that will strike a chord with many kids. An exceptionally talented Freddie Highmore (August Rush) plays twin brothers Jared and Simon Grace, caught up in a sad shock from their parents’ divorce and coping with a decision by their mother (Mary-Louise Parker) to uproot the boys and their sister, Mallory (Sarah Bolger), from New York City to a small town. There, the broken family moves into a spooky old mansion passed on to them by the kids’ great-aunt, Lucinda (Joan Plowright), who is spending her twilight years in managed care and whose scientist father, Arthur Spiderwick (David Strathairn), disappeared some 80 years ago. Jared, angry, defiant, and determined to live with the father who seems to have abandoned him, investigates strange happenings and discovers Arthur’s secret notations on fairies, ogres, and other mythical creatures that live both in and outside the house. Having no idea where his curiosity is leading, Jared soon finds that he and his family are under siege from goblins and a powerful ogre (Nick Nolte) who wants Arthur’s notebook. Suddenly, the boy who is a lightning rod for a troubled family becomes a resourceful warrior intent on saving his loved ones from powerful forces. The Spiderwick Chronicles benefits enormously from a script (partially written by John Sayles) that treats, quite seriously, the emotional pain of its human characters and makes Jared’s will to survive the very real engine of an otherwise fantastic story. It helps, too, that director Mark Waters, who brings a warm and knowing touch to outlandish material (Freaky Friday), has a way of making the spectacular elements of The Spiderwick Chronicles genuine enough to stir real excitement and suspense. This is one of the better film adaptations of best-selling fiction for kids in some years.
